Isolation Enhancement in WiFi dual-band two PIF As for compact size antenna module applications

A dual-element multiple-input-multiple-output (MIMO) antenna with high isolation is proposed for WiFi dual-band antenna module applications. The antenna module with a compact size of 30 mm × 30 mm, and the no ground portion is 30 mm × 10 mm consists of two printed inverted F antenna (PIF A) elements. Based on suppressing surface wave and near-field coupling, an efficient technique of protruded spiral ground-line is introduced to increase isolation. It is found that isolation of more than 15 dB can be achieved between two polarization diversity dual-band PIF A elements. There is good agreement between simulation and measurement results.
