Reconfigurable Frequency Selective Surface for Dual band filter applications

In this paper, a reconfigurable Frequency Selective Surface (FSS) for dual band applications has been proposed. A novel FSS unit cell is composed of closed metal patch in the shape of a “Clover” and FR-4 media substrate. By placing a high frequency switching PIN diode at an improved intersection in a closed metal sheet, a controlled frequency response can be obtained. Simulated results show that the proposed RFSS structure can achieve a dual-band response centered 2.5GHz and 6.2GHz when the PIN diodes at ON state. Therefore, the design can be used in C-band shielding applications.
