Gain Enhancement of Dielectric Resonator Antenna Using Superstrate for 5G Applications

In this paper, a compact Dielectric Resonator Antenna (DRA) is proposed for future fifth-generation (5G) wireless technology. The proposed antenna structure operates at 28 GHz bands and achieves high gain thanks to the use of superstrate. The design utilizes a modified transition, microstrip to slot, to feed the antenna and enhance adaptation. Simulated results showed a large bandwidth covering about 3 GHz and a very high gain reaching 18.1 dBi.
