Gain Enhancement of Quasi Yagi Antenna Using Lens Technique for 5G Wireless Systems

In this paper, a lens technique is proposed to enhance gain and bandwidth of a planar Quasi- Yagi antenna. The proposed structure works at 28 GHz which makes it suitable for the challenging 5G wireless communications. In the proposed antenna structure, a loaded dielectric hemisphere lens is used to focalize electromagnetic energy and enhance the gain. The design utilizes a planar quasi- Yagi antenna, which uses a dipole driver and five directors. Simulated results showed a large bandwidth covering about 2 GHz and a high gain up to 15.5 dBi.
