Effect of the Scattered Field on the Terminal Risers in Twisted-Wire Pairs With Floating Loads

The effect of the scattered field on the terminal risers in twisted-wire pairs (TWPs) is investigated in the presence of an electromagnetic plane wave incidence. An equivalent circuit of the common mode (CM), represented by a wire above the ground, is used to obtain the CM current along such TWP connected to a floating terminal together with the approximation of their near field. It is shown that the scattered field radiated by a TWP can be coupled with any floating terminals, and in turn, it has significant effects on the differential mode response at the resonant frequencies of such transmission line system.
