Task scheduling optimization in cloud based on electromagnetism metaheuristic algorithm

The development of information and telecommunication technologies played a major role to emerge Cloud paradigm. It became used in a wide range of areas, especially in business which required to increase the quality of services (QoS) provided to customers. Also, Virtualization Technology is one of the most important properties of Cloud environment; it allows moving and allocates material resources dynamically. Whereas, task scheduling is a critical part of resource allocation. In this paper, we have used a metaheuristic approach called Electromagnetism Meta-heuristic Algorithm (EMA). We specifically designed EMA to minimize the makespan of execution tasks on virtual machines (VMs) as well, we study its impact on the availability of resources. Simulation results revealed that EMA gave eligible results closer to PSO. But, it allows a better availability of VMs.
