Design, Modelling and Implementation of an Attraction type Levitation Prototype with tilt Control

This paper presents a study on the design, finite element (FE) based analysis, electromagnetic analysis, system modelling and fabrication of a large rectangular platform weighing 592 gm. A significant improvement has been achieved as no mechanical restrainer is being used. The prototype has been designed, mathematically modelled, analysed and experimentally investigated. Some of the objectives are to evaluate parameters, determine force, inductance and current vs. air-gap characteristics. Conventional analytical formulation and then FEM based calculations are being done. It is being levitated under four electromagnets with four independent closed-loop position feedback.
