On the Development of a Flexible Methodology for the Analytical Design of an Axial-Flux PMSG Used in Wind Turbines

This paper describes and develops a general flexible methodology for the analytical design of dual-stator type Axial-Flux Permanent Magnet Synchronous Generators which are used in vertical axis wind turbines. The aim of this methodology is to have a validated tool for making fast designs without the need of using high time-consuming finite element simulations. However, the validation process is done through comparisons with the finite element software JMAG-Designer 12.0. The algorithm solution presented in this paper is suitable for the design of new topologies of AF - PMSG' s.
