Program for Designing Planar Cam Mechanisms"

Cam mechanisms are used as the control system in machines of several fields such as internal engines, filling and packing machines, etc. The traditional cam design and fabrication are very complicated and include many steps that cause accumulated errors. This paper presents the development of a system for designing planar cam mechanisms and fabricating cam profiles. The system includes: (1) a cam design program based on envelope theory and inverse method; (2) the development of a CNC milling machine for fabricating cam profile designed by the above program.
