An Electrical Impedance Biosensor Array for Tracking Moving Cells

We report a novel sensor for tracking moving cells by dielectric spectroscopy using electrodes smaller than eukaryotic cells. At this scale, we easily discriminated between the resistance of electrode surfaces and the resistance of the bulk solution. Our micro-sized sensors detected small heterogeneous structures in electrolytes, such as insect cells, mammalian cells, and polystyrene beads.
