Evaluating the Absorption Ratio of iBEAM® Evo Couchtop EP and Effect on Build-Up Region Doses in VMAT by CERR

As therapies continue to improve tumor control, the importance of reducing late and chronic effects of radiotherapy becomes increasingly imperative to maximize patients’ quality of life. A potential side effect of radiation therapy is a skin reaction, such as erythema, desquamation or necrosis. Such skin reactions can affect the patient’s quality of life negatively. Evaluation the impact of the iBEAM® evo carbon fiber couchtop EP on VMAT delivering accurace were performed with CERR (a Matlab based graphical user interface for radio-therapy applications) in terms of dose volume histograms, depth dose curves and 3D-γ tests with and without couch model included is presented to improved delivery accuracy for radiation therapy and the influence on surface dose distribu-tions. It is our hope that this contribution will lead to improved delivery accuracy for radiation therapy and ultimately to taking more notice on the skin dose of the patient from the couch absorption.
