New Uses Spur Lithium-Ion Battery Research and Development [Happenings]

Reports on new uses for lithium ion batteries. Driven in part by increased interest in electrification of land transportation and by the increased use of wind-and solar generated electricity, lithium (Li)-ion battery research and development (R&D) is exploring many innovations. This article discusses potential new directions in the Li-ion battery industry. It starts with a few paragraphs about the basics of the technology and the evolution of the product line and then offers a discussion of future directions.
