Ultrasonic Cavity Resonance Method for Fluid Quality Monitoring Applications

As a new fluid quality monitoring method, the ultrasonic cavity resonance (USCR)sensor, which forms standing waves in a specifically designed cavity, was presented in this article. The USCR sensor can realize real-time responsiveness, lean signal processing, and smaller size compared to those of the conventional time of flight (TOF)sensor. We introduced model based design (MBD)approach to simulate the scale factor of the USCR sensor and proved its effectiveness with an experimental way. The result confirmed 180kHz shift of the resonant frequency against the 0 to 25 wt% density change of NaCI solution fluid.
