Multielement Interdigital Transducers for Structural Health Monitoring

This work presents an improved interdigital transducer for ultrasonic guided-wave generation and reception in structural health monitoring systems, where each finger constitutes an independent electrode that can be driven and sensed with a multichannel system. The new design aims at improving the versatility in wavelength selectivity of the classical interdigital transducer. Preliminary tests have shown that the fingers work correctly as a time-delayed periodic array.
