Technological Upgrade of Automation System for a Rotor Test Bench of Alternator-Vehicular

This article describes the technical project that allows to update automatic operation and also the availability of data, of a test bench for rotors of vehicles alternators. At the end of the manufacturing process of a rotor, it is necessary to carry out different tests of quality to determine whether or not the element is suitable to be mounted on an alternator. Based on an obsolete test bench that has the elements necessary for the measurement of resistance of winding and current loss to chassis, this project upgraded the automation technology equipment, migrating it from a control based on an old computer to control solved by means of a PLC (Programmable Logic Controller) with the ultimate industrial technology. The new system commands completely the test process, interacts with the operator through a tactile terminal HMI (Human Machine Interace), is be able to accumulate the data of each test by means of a block called “Datalogger” and can transmit all the data through an Ethernet link to the Quality Office of the factory. This project was presented as Final Project to obtain the Electronic Engineering degree (Digital Systems Orientation) in the “Facultad de Física, Matemática y Ciencias Naturales”, that belongs to the university “Universidad Nacional de San Luis - UNSL (Argentina)”
