Monitoring of Road Accidents- A Review

The development of prevention techniques for minimizing road accidents is the need of the modern era. In countries whose economy is growing fast like India, the number of road accidents is taking place at an alarming rate. In order to mitigate the effects of such accidents we need to have an effective accident monitoring and prevention technique. There are several techniques in literature employing different engineering ideas that have been suggested for mitigating the impact of accidents on the society. The prime focus of this paper is aimed to ensure comfort driving, following traffic norms, minimizing road congestion and casualties. The review provides information regarding the various techniques that have been proposed in recent times and challenges faced for their implementation. It is an outcome regarding the various methods that have been suggested by different authors in a systematic approach. Methodologies of various authors have been provided which employs fuzzy systems, microcontroller interfaced with sensors.
