Digital Implementation of a Beam Control Scheme in Phased Array for Satellite Communications

An efficient and standard-compliant hardware and software architecture for the digital control part of active phased arrays is proposed in this paper. The FPGA-based proposed scheme is designed to meet the requirements of the receiver side of the ground station in mobile satellite communication systems. The digital control part has been implemented on Artix-7 and ZYNQ-7000 FPGAs. Both simulation and measurement results prove the capability of the proposed structure for mobile satellite systems.
