An Approach to the Construction of a Network Processing Unit

In this paper we consider an approach to designing of a network processing unit (NPU). The paper contains description of proposed NPU architecture with functionally specific processing pipeline stages. It is designed for the set of common use case scenarios, but can be easily extended to other ones. We implemented a simulation model of the proposed NPU architecture using SystemC library and evaluated its performance. Model implementation uses SystemC library. NPU performance evaluation was carried out with simulation model of the proposed NPU architecture.
