Energy saving in the scalar control system of an asynchronous electric drive

Currently, more than 2000 hoisting mechanisms in the Novolipetsk Steel, including a considerable proportion of conveyors. Most conveyors are characterized by intermittent mode (cyclic duration factor is from 25 to 40 percent), frequent starting and braking, wide range of the load variation, which means that the motor can operate in underloaded condition, and therefore with less efficiency. In this article following task was performed: Simulation of a typical scalar drive control system with vectorterm adjustment of the stator current of the inductor motor risk factors. This control system will significantly reduce the stator current consumption from the grid when non-nominal load by maintaining the angle between the stator current and the rotor flux linkage unchanged at 45 degrees.
