Jumping into Problem Solving [Pathways]

The IEEE Industrial Applications Society (IAS) Petroleum and Chemical Industry Committee (PCIC) sponsors a popular and wellattended technical conference for electrical professionals in the petroleum, gas, and chemical industries. Young professionals are increasingly getting involved. One of these young professionals is Danny Zepeda, who is vice chair of the Young Engineers Development Subcommittee (YEDS). For firsttime attendees, especially those who are young, YEDS conducts a special program to help them get quickly and thoroughly oriented so they can obtain maximum benefits from their first time at the PCIC conference. According to Zepeda, “Our goal is to do our job so well that first-timers will return the following year ready to become active contributors to the conference.” I recently caught up with Zepeda to ask him about his schooling, his present work, and how he became involved in the IAS PCIC and YEDS.
