Simulation of terahertz intrabody wireless nano sensor networks in the presence of noise and interference

Current development of nanodevice can be used to build small nanosensor networks with applications in biomedicine and eHealth. Communication among nanodevices will be wireless and works at Terahertz (THz) band frequencies (0.1–10 THz). In this paper, the performance of wireless network communication for intrabody communication in the presence of noise and interference is evaluated, taking into account a peculiarity of THz propagation due to molecular absorption and molecular noise inside human tissue. Furthermore, link budget analysis will be included to determine transmission range based on Signal to Interference and Noise Ratio (SINR) requirement for TS-OOK modulation. The performance of single-user and multi-user communication inside human tissue has been done using simulation in three dimensions scenario. The results show the effective communication range for single-user models is limited to 1–2 mm. Moreover, the high node density and random pulse transmission among nano-network decrease the system performance.
