A compact quad-port dual-polarized dipole rectenna for ambient RF energy harvesting

In this paper we present a design for a compact quad-port dual-polarized dipole rectenna for harvesting ambient RF energy from GSM-1800 band. The combination of multiport rectenna design and dual polarization rectenna design ensures all polarization reception and increases the harvested energy. The quad-port dual-polarized operation with good isolation is achieved by configuring four dipole antenna elements orthogonally. We provide results of the quad-port dual-polarized dipole antenna. A voltage doubler rectifier design with high output DC voltage and good efficiency at low input power for GSM-1800 band is also described. The measurement results including reflection coefficient and efficiency are provided. The DC combining is also adopted for the quad-port rectification.
