An Ultra-Wideband Miniaturized Antipodal Vivaldi Antenna

In order to improve the lower frequency bandwidth and reduce the profile of the antenna, a novel 22.5:1 ultrawideband miniaturized antipodal Vivaldi antenna is proposed. In this work, additional Y-type gaps at the edge of the radiation patches, parasitic patches and resistors between the radiation patch and the parasitic patch together make the antenna working frequency extended to lower operating frequency. The profile of the antenna is
$\mathbf{80mm}\times \mathbf{92 mm}$
made on a 0.508mm thick substrate. The operating frequency range is from 0.8GHz to 18GHz, giving a relative bandwidth of 183%. The gain of the antenna is sufficient to operate in the full spectrum. The cross polarization ratio at the low frequency is greater than 30dB, and is greater than 15dB at the high frequency.
