Superconducting Line Trap Based on HTS Coil and HTS Electrode Capacitor

Superconducting line trap based on High-temperature superconducting (HTS) coil and HTS electrode capacitor has the potential advantages of sharing the coolant with HTS cables and suiting power line communication (PLC). It would play an important role in the future application of HTS cable to the smart grid with PLC. In this paper, the characteristics of proposed superconducting line trap are presented by theoretical analysis and experimental investigation. In contrast to line trap made from conventional materials, superconducting line trap can provide a larger blocking impedance for PLC channels and cause much lower loss at power frequency.
