Integrated DFIG-Based Wind Farm Protection With Rotor-Side SMES and Advanced Control Under Grid Faults

To satisfy with the low voltage ride through (LVRT) requirements of grid code and smooth output power of doubly fed induction generator (DFIG), a superconducting magnetic energy storage (SMES) auxiliary device is proposed to use in parallel with the rotor side of DFIG, meanwhile current reversely tracking control (CRTC) and transient voltage control (TVC) is proposed to use in rotor side SMES and rotor side converter (RSC) to protect DFIG and sustain grid voltage during grid faults. in wind farms, and the matched control strategies of SMES have been given. Simulation results show that the proposed method can protect all the key parameters of DFIG, and enhance the grid voltage during grid faults.
