Text Hiding with Binary Indexing of Characters Using Customized PRNG and Pixel Matching Technique

This paper presents an approach for improving the hiding capacity using binary indexing of characters in spatial domain steganography. Customized Pseudo Random Number Generation (PRNG) is applied to ensure high security for the text hidden in a color image. Every character in a defined character set is assigned with a binary value which is not same for all bit planes. After the generation of binary numbers for the characters, the series of binary values are shuffled through customized PRNG algorithm. For embedding the shuffled binary data, plus or minus modification made among the pixels. Very less number of binary ones are present in the binary value list assigned to the list of characters in the character set. This consumes less number of pixels in the image for modification. Binary indexing of characters and customized PRNG algorithm creates high security for the text hidden in the image. Experimental results produce better Peak Signal Noise Ratio(PSNR) with high visual quality of stego images.
