IT Application to Mapping the Potential of Malnutrition Problems

Changes in toddler's weight within a certain time is an early indication of child nutritional circumstances. In the six-month period, infants who did not gain weight 2 times, were at risk of malnutrition 12.6 times than those with regular weight gain. Based on this, the weight change information can be the parameter to mapping the potential malnutrition problems. It could provide input for government and public policy makers to prevent malnutrition and make a nutritional intervention. The Indonesia government has made a policy to address malnutrition issues through the establishment of posyandu which under puskesmas (an locally public health facility) coordinated. But in fact, not all children are observed, because there are parents who do not take advantage of posyandu. In addition, the recorded data do not directly state the specific conditions of community participation. The ability of classification algorithms can be used to mark the nutritional status of toddler in the territory of each posyandu or the territory of each puskesmas. This paper focus to find a model of IT application that can be used for mapping the potential of malnutrition problems and the rate of utilization of posyandu. The result, the cross-platform information model developed is a web-based core system, with a mobile application-based support system. Output data can be a map of potential malnutrition of a region. So actual system use in the form of potential malnutrition maps, which involve the community, will be realized. Thus, the community can participate in preventing malnutrition and supporting the formation of smart society in the health sector.
