Comparison of Speed Regulation Performance of Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor

Hybrid excitation synchronous motor(HESM) can be regarded as a new permanent magnet motor, which has the permanent magnetic poles and the electrically excited magnetic poles, and it has a wide range of speed regulation capabilities. The mathematical models of the common permanent magnet synchronous motor(PMSM) and HESM were derived. The low speed performance and high speed performance of the two synchronous motors were calculated based on finite element method(FEM), and their speed regulation performances were compared. Two permanent magnet synchronous motor prototypes were manufactured and their performances were tested. Calculations and experiments show that the HESM has better speed regulation performance.
