A Novel Sensorless Vector Control Strategy of Stand-Alone Induction Generator Considering Residual Magnetism

This paper presents a novel cost-effective sensorless scheme for the start-up and operation of a standalone induction generator. The sensorless control system is based on full-order flux observer to estimate the rotation speed. The residual magnetism helps to estimate the speed of the rotor at the beginning when the full-order flux observer has not converged to the actual induction generator speed. After a certain time, the estimation of rotor speed through full-order flux observer began to work. The vector control method is applied in this scheme. The proposed method has been validated through simulation and verified on a 7.5 kW laboratory prototype.
