A Simple Control Method for Direct Torque Control of BLDCM with Low Resolution Hall Sensors

This paper proposes a simple control method, based on 12-sector switching table, for direct torque control (DTC) of brushless DC motor (BLDCM) with low resolution Hall sensors. The calculation model to detect rotor position is derived by using average speed estimation. Numerical simulation and experiment on a prototype motor are carried out to evaluate this method. The results show that this method is effective and thus is meaningful to improve the reliability of the drive system.
