Abstract:

Ultrasonic transducers have been used for applications in several areas of engineering. Specifically, in the wind energy sector, ultrasonic transducers are used to measure wind speed. The principle of measurement is based on the estimation of time of flight (ToF). The estimation of this magnitude may be influenced by medium noises, but new approaches to analysis and advanced measurement techniques are considering the influence of multiechoes on the measurement environment. In this sense, this article aims to develop a computational tool for modeling the propagation of ultrasonic waves in closed environments using the Ray-Tracing technique. Results of the wind speed measurement method will be presented using 2 axes considering different noise levels of the medium, as well as a different number of reflections. The ToF estimation technique used was the Threshold, and the signal analysis was performed in the time and frequency domain.
