Investigation of the Possibility for Development of a Fast-Acting Capacitor Bank Based on Controlled Switching

The paper presents investigations of transients at uncontrolled and controlled switching of a capacitor bank by a vacuum circuit breaker. It is shown that the use of controlled switching allows reducing transient currents and voltages to the values being sufficient for implementation of a fast-acting capacitor bank.
