Data-Quality Aware State Estimation in Three-Phase Unbalanced Active Distribution System

With ongoing smart grid activities and distribution automation, advancements in sensors including smart meter and switch data have been utilized for better situational awareness, decision support, and control of active power distribution systems. State estimation is a fundamental function of power system analysis. However, the application of state estimation in the distribution system is still hampered by limited sensor data, data quality and multi-rate data. This paper represents a new formulation for the solution of unbalanced three-phase distribution system state estimation considering the integration of smart meter data and the associated measurement error. The three-phase unbalanced equations are written in rectangular coordinate and solved using least square and maximum normal measurement rate method. The performance of the proposed approach is validated using IEEE 13 node system and an industrial feeder.
