Performance Analysis of OFDM System Based on FPGA and MATLAB Platform

Orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) has been paid to extensive attention due to its high spectrum efficiency and ability of resistance to multipath interference. In this paper, we propose an OFDM system, which is based on wireless network protocol, so as to eliminate inter-symbol interference (ISI) and inter-channel interference (ICI) of transmitted signals. Moreover, we establish a simulation and verification platform based on FPGA and MATLAB, to test the reliability and feasibility of the system. The former is for baseband signal processing, and the latter is used for channel environment simulation, e.g., channel noise, carrier frequency offset (CFO), multi-path delay, etc. The performance of this system is ultimately evaluated from the perspective of bit-error rate (BER). Simulation results show that, the system performance can be better when the SNR is greater than 22dB or the frequency offset is less than 93.75 kHz. In addition, when the number of transmission channels is 3, the system's ability to resist multipath interference is also reflected.
