Application of Bisection Search Method for Maximum Power Extraction

An amalgam of two different techniques has been utilized to track the Maximum Power Point (MPP). Here, steady state error has been minimized and speed of tracking the MPP has been enhanced by utilizing a root-finding algorithm. Moreover, effectiveness in tracking the MPP is provided by a conventional technique. A substantial combination of Bisection Search Theorem (BST) and Hill Climbing method (HC) offers such an optimum performance. In addition, this combination determines close bracket limits for the BST Numerical Method for interval halving in order to track MPP and compensates steady state fluctuations due to the HC. In addition, this amalgamation offers fast, simple, efficient and exact MPP tracking, compared to the conventional HC technique. To implement the Amalgam a buck converter with a resistive load, connected to KC85T Solar PV Module, has been employed. For software simulation, MATLAB Simulink software has been utilized. The simulation and experimental results display a commendable performance of the proposed amalgam.
