Social Presence in Digital Community

Digital community is the current trend in knowledge economy, where knowledge is shared and sought after by people in community over the Internet and the cloud, yet it is not limited to only teaching and learning institutions. The need for social presence is becoming more important for a person with knowledge, hence the idea of embedding software agents in digital community to identify knowledge experts and promote them to increase social presence. This paper presents how software agents can be assigned to increase social presence, by deploying the personal knowledge management (PKM) framework into the agent's tasks. The GUSC Model under the PKM framework is adopted since it is proven to be applicable across recent research. The outcome of this research is not limited to only one community, but with a potential to be across multiple communities with the help from the software agents' capabilities.
