Estimation of SAR Enhancement Due to Implant Metal Exposed to External Electromagnetic Waves

The RF exposure guidelines do recognize that an increased local SAR (Specific Absorption Rate) due to metallic implants is possible. In this study, the effect of implantable medical device in human torso region is examined. A simple flat torso phantom is used which a cardiac pacemaker model is implanted in. The local SAR dependencies due to exposure frequency bands were presented. Here, we estimate localized SAR at several candidate frequency bands for 5th generation wireless systems.
