Inter-Polarization 180-Degree Mixer for Reception of M-ASK Signals

We demonstrate a novel receiver design on silicon for local-oscillator (LO)-less detection of single-polarization multi-level amplitude-shift keying (ASK) signals. Reception of 28Gbaud and 56GBaud 4-ASK signals has successfully demonstrated. The receiver uses a novel inter-polarization 180° mixer based on adiabatic mode conversion.
