Dynamics of Semantic Networks of Independence Day Speeches

The dynamical analysis of complex semantic network is relevant to a wide range of systems where individual units interact with each other. In this work, we considered linguistic networks arise from public speeches of administrators. Public speeches of governing people could be an ideal source of information providing an indication of current trends, policies expected and long-term plans. Such speeches could give an overall idea of pattern shifts in priorities of different speakers which can have direct implications for shaping future of a nation. Here we propose a computational study on semantic networks which could be employed effectively for this purpose. Our analysis shows that the semantic linguistic network of a public speech can effectively be utilised to visualise the hidden conceptual relationship between different key terms in a public address. The proposed methodology utilises the tools of complex network analysis to detect the instances when new terms introduced into the long-term keyword affairs. In this paper, we visualise the semantic networks which have emerged from independence day speeches of Indian prime ministers and reported the dynamical behaviour of their structural properties.
