Dual Band Circular Polarized Wearable Antenna for Military Applications

This paper proposes a dual band rectangular planar wearable patch antenna deployed with a L shaped dual slits covering military wireless applications. The traditional embroidery process develops aesthetic shapes using metallic threads on a base textile antenna. The overall size of the antenna is 74×40mm
²
which is very small compared to the wavelength at the resonant frequency. Initially the antenna performance in terms of gain, impedance matching (S11), directivity and antenna efficiency is carried with CST software simulator. However, the feeding point where the RF connector meets in obtaining perfect impedance match stands to be critical as part of antenna design. Position and orientation of the antenna shows impact on the selection of sensitive point in wearable antenna. Significance of the proposed structure with Jeans cloth (1.7 dielectric) is compared with the FR4 (4.4) conventional patch structure. The major contribution of antenna is to resonate the frequencies to operate at 3.17GHz with circular polarization and 5.04 GHz linearly polarized which has prior importance in military applications.
