Differential Microstrip Antenna with Side Wall Patch for RF Energy Harvesting

In this paper, a differential microstrip antenna with side wall patch is introduced for RF energy harvesting. The antenna ground and patch are shorted with perfect electric conductor (PEC) for obtaining multiband. The side wall patches are used for adjusting the resonating frequencies to cover WLAN (IEEE 802.11) and WiMAX (IEEE 802.16). The top microstrip antenna is electromagnetically coupled to bottom microstrip antenna to enhance the bandwidth and improve the gain. The proposed differential microstrip antenna is simulated to obtain the functional characteristics like gain, radiation pattern, VSWR and return loss. Also, it is observed that this antenna can harvest energy from ten different bands of electromagnetic spectrum.
