Simple and Efficient Non-Contact Technique for Resistor Value Estimation

With the advent of various smart devices in the recent years, image processing has been increasingly used in a diverse range of technologies. This work focuses on the development of one such technology directed towards solving the problems faced in the measurement of resistor values. Resistors are the most fundamental and commonly used electronic components in everyday electrical and electronics circuits. Bulk usage of resistors for commercial purposes, measurement problems in high voltage circuits and the state of people with deficient color vision, calls for a need to develop a simple and efficient system for automatic in-situ measurement of resistor values. This work introduces one such technique of real-time measurement of resistor values from resistor images using image processing.
