Selected Studies of Electromagnetic Exposure Levels in the Countries of Asia – A Review

The number of cellular base stations installed in the public places and in particular, nearby residential areas, schools and hospital is growing due to the exponential rise in the customers who are opting these technologies for their use. This would have caused the concern among the general public that, the radiations from these stations might cause several health issues. In some places people have protested against the installation of cellular base stations in close proximity to their dwellings. Consequent to this act of public, several countries have conducted measurement campaign of Radio Frequency (RF) radiation level exists in the public places and verified that whether these measured values are complied with values agreed by the several international agencies like ICNIRP, WHO, IEEE etc. This paper reviews the reports of such measurement campaigns conducted in the countries belongs to Asia during the period of 2005 to 2017. The results of the survey conducted in the Asia region did not exceed the safety limits suggested by the international regulatory bodies.
