Inkjet Printing of Silver Electrodes on Top of Reduced Graphene Oxide Layers for Sensor Applications

In this report we introduce inkjet printing of electrodes over reduced graphene oxide layers. A silver nanoparticle ink formulation was used to print electrode patterns on flexible and rigid substrates. The substrates were coated with graphene oxide layers and reduced prior to the printing. The effects of number of printed layers and width of the printed lines are discussed in detail in this paper. The resulting electrical and physical properties were characterized by microscopic images, profilometry and electrical resistivity. A successful metallization over a layer of reduced graphene oxide was obtained for later use in sensor applications.
