Pulsed High Power Diode Arrays for Pumping and Direct Illumination

For many years QCW diode arrays have largely been used for side pumping of laser rods. For this application the high divergence of the diode laser beam was more an advantage than an inconvenience since it made the pumping more homogeneous. As a consequence no optics were required to improve the quality of the diode beam.
