Transfer Power Analysis of Capacitively Isolated Outlet and Plug (CapIsOP) using Series Resonance

Authors have proposed capacitively isolated outlet and plug (CapIsOP) suitable for DC power distribution. In the previous studies, comb type capacitor is used to realize isolated outlet and plug. Comb type capacitor can realize large capacitance which results in large transfer power. In the previous studies, series resonance is employed for simple structure and both choke-input and capacitor-input rectifiers are used as load side rectifier. In this paper, analysis of transfer power using both choke-input rectifier and capacitor-input rectifier will be done for selection of circuit topology to realize more simple structure of capacitive couplings and enhancement of transfer power. In the experiment based on the analysis, power of 41.5W was successfully transferred using capacitor-input rectifier. In addition, it is experimentally confirmed that the plug from outlet was safely removed from the outlet.
