A Time-Frequency Signal Analysis and Processing Application For Cooperative Spectrum Sensing

In the classic energy detection (ED) spectrum sensing method for application in cognitive radio the received signals are time windowed in the time domain. This procedure has the adverse effect of smearing the frequency spectrum of the signal. An alternative is to use the time-frequency signal analysis and processing (TFSAP) representation method considering the Cognitive Radio (CR) scenario. The purpose of this work is to evaluate the performance of the Smoothed Pseudo Wigner-Ville Distribution (SPWVD) energy detection method through computational simulations and to compare the results with those obtained with the classic ED algorithm considering both single detection and cooperative spectrum sensing (CSS).
