Control of Parameters of Grain Drying Process in Dense Layer

The article attempts to justify the necessary controlled parameters of the grain drying process by active ventilation. The system method is used. The drying process is presented as the interaction of two systems: “drying agent” and “grain layer”. The informativeness of each of the elements of the system is evaluated by the use of the elements of the information theory. The technological feature of the process was taken into account. In the “grain layer” system, the value of the moisture content of the grain greatly affects on its conservation. The temperature of the grain has a great importance. The atmospheric air parameters are changing during the day. Therefore, the assessment of an informative value of this element of the system was evaluated with the regard to their getting into a certain range. Active ventilation units are presented as the objects with distributed parameters. The thick layer of grain is presented as a set of elementary layers. The output parameters of one layer are input ones to the next layer. Since the parameters of atmospheric air change during the day, there is a constant uncertainty about the state of the grain layer. It also does not remain constant. It was discovered that for the adequate control of an active ventilation process, it is enough to control the parameters of the drying agent at the entrance to the grain layer and to have a mathematical model of heat and moisture exchange in the dense layer of grain.
