Extensive Measurements to Define Boundary Conditions for Efficient AC and DC Residential Houses

This paper compares the wiring systems at four voltage levels (12V DC, 24V DC, 48V DC and 230V AC) to feed the DC appliances through a regulated DC source. Possible wiring cases in an existing residential house are based on the power rating of load, conductor length and its area. Few cases have been experimentally tested in previous research work, but extensive experimentation and measurement are required to confirm the boundary conditions for the wiring systems. In this paper, validated models based on actual measurements of 184 experimental cases were used to define the boundary conditions that could help residential consumers to select the suitable wiring system for 62400 possible cases.
