Comparative Study of Roger and FR-4 Based Circularly Polarized Microstrip Patch Antenna with Injecting a Single Set of Shorting Pins

A single probe feed Roger based and FR4 based microstrip patch antennas (MPA) injecting with shorting pins is stated in this paper. Set of shorting pins are placed along the diagonal of square shape patch radiator. The shunt inductive effect bring by these shorting pins. Maximum bandwidth of circular polarization investigates the loading position of set of shorting pins. To get the circular polarization (CP) position of inner pins changed to separate the disputed modes. By varying the feeding position along the X - Y axis LHCP and RHCP can be obtained. After the extensive analysis in between the two substrate, simulation outcomes of the FR4 based substrate exhibit a better correspondence and it is proved that bandwidth is improved from 46 MHz to 81 MHz displaying 76% enhancement on FR4 based substrate as compare to Roger based substrate.
